Position Overview
The Center for Digital Learning and Innovation (CDLI) at AUT is seeking a motivated and service-oriented Junior Associate to support the delivery and continuous improvement of digital learning services across the University.
AUT is committed to innovative, technology-enhanced, and student-centered education, and CDLI plays an important role in supporting high-quality digital learning experiences across the University.
This is an entry-level, full-time position ideal for recent graduates interested in building a professional career in higher education, instructional design, digital learning, and educational technology. The role involves supporting students and faculty in the use of the University’s Learning Management System (Canvas), assisting with troubleshooting, and contributing to the development of instructional materials.
The Junior Associate will work under the supervision of the Instructional Designer and collaborate closely with the CDLI team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide responsive first-line support to students and faculty using Canvas LMS and related educational technologies
- Respond to and help resolve user inquiries, requests, and basic technical issues in a timely and professional manner
- Assist in troubleshooting common platform issues and escalate complex cases when necessary
- Support the creation and updating of instructional materials, including:
- Written guides and manuals
- Step-by-step instructions
- Video tutorials and visual content
- Assist in maintaining and organizing digital learning resources
- Support initiatives related to AI-supported learning tools and emerging educational technologies at AUT
- Collaborate with the Instructional Designer on improving user experience and support processes
- Collaborate with academic and administrative units to support effective digital learning practices across the University
- Contribute to testing and implementation of new educational technologies and tools
- Maintain accurate records of support requests and solutions
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respectful communication in all interactions with students, faculty, and colleagues
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
- Good command of spoken and written English at B2–C1 level (upper-intermediate to advanced)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to learn new digital tools quickly and work independently under supervision
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a dynamic and fast-growing university environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in education, Teaching English, instructional technology, or related fields
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard)
- Basic experience with multimedia tools (e.g., video editing, screen recording, graphic design)
- Interest in instructional design, e-learning, or educational technology
